Overview
Talking Points ("the App") is developed and operated by Parris Image, LLC dba Sycamor Studio ("we," "us," or "our"). This Privacy Policy describes how we collect, use, and handle information when you use our iOS and macOS application.
The short version: the core functionality of this app — speech recognition and talking point tracking — happens entirely on your device using Apple's on-device frameworks. We do not receive, store, or process your voice recordings.
Information We Collect
Information You Provide
- Account information: If you purchase a Pro subscription, Apple processes your payment through the App Store. We receive only a subscription status token — not your payment details.
- Support communications: If you contact us for support, we receive your email address and the content of your message.
- Email list: If you sign up for launch notifications on our website, we store your email address for that purpose only.
Information Collected Automatically
- Crash reports: If the app crashes, Apple may send us a crash report that includes device type, iOS version, and a stack trace. No personal or speech data is included.
- Diagnostic reports: If you choose to submit a diagnostic report via the in-app shake gesture, we receive basic device information and app state logs. This is always opt-in.
- Analytics: We do not use third-party analytics SDKs. We may use Apple's built-in App Store analytics, which are anonymized and aggregated.
Speech Recognition
Talking Points uses Apple's Speech Recognition framework (SFSpeechRecognizer) to transcribe your speech in real time. By default, this processes audio on-device. Apple may also use their servers for recognition — this is governed by Apple's Privacy Policy, not ours.
We never receive, record, transmit, or store your voice data or speech transcriptions. All speech processing stays between your device and Apple's frameworks.
Your Content
Your talking point sets, notes, and documents are stored locally on your device and, if enabled, in your personal iCloud account via CloudKit. We do not have access to your content. iCloud sync is governed by Apple's Privacy Policy.
Cloud Sync (Cloudflare Workers KV)
For real-time cross-device sync features, the app may use a Cloudflare Workers backend. In this case, your talking point content (titles and tile text) is transmitted to and stored on Cloudflare's infrastructure under your account identifier. No personally identifiable information beyond a device-generated ID is used. Cloudflare's data handling is governed by Cloudflare's Privacy Policy.
Camera and Microphone
The app requests access to your device's microphone for speech recognition and your camera for the video recording feature. We do not access these hardware inputs for any purpose other than the features described. Video recordings are saved only to your device's photo library and are never transmitted to our servers.
Local Network
The remote control feature uses Apple's MultipeerConnectivity framework to connect devices on the same local network. This communication is peer-to-peer and does not pass through our servers.
Data Retention
We retain support emails for as long as necessary to resolve your issue, and no longer. Email list signups are retained until you request removal. We do not retain any other personal data.
Children's Privacy
Talking Points is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided us personal information, please contact us and we will delete it promptly.
Your Rights
Depending on your location, you may have rights regarding your personal data, including the right to access, correct, or delete information we hold about you. To exercise these rights or to be removed from our email list, contact us at the address below.
Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of significant changes by updating the effective date at the top of this page. Continued use of the app after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
